42 out of the 2,383 corps members who passed out in Kwara State on Thursday were given eleven months extension of service for various misconduct, while 11 received state honours. 3 corps members also died in the course of the one year compulsory service to the nation.
This report was gathered at the passing out ceremony of 2012 Batch ‘C’ corps members which took place at the Metropolitan Square, Asa Dam area of Ilorin.
While addressing the corps members, the Kwara State Governor, Alhaji Abdulfatah Ahmed, who was represented by the state Head of
Service, Alhaji Dabarako Mohammed, said the corps members have worked hard to give the best service to their fatherland. He said the corps members, through their numerous activities and programmes, have awakened the spirits of self development among the
communities, noting that the corps members have provided adequate modern infrastructural facilities in some rural areas.

He explained that the skill acquisition programme introduced by the NYSC for the corps members was to enable them forge ahead in order to build a stable society.
The governor, however, sympathised with families of the three out-going corps members who lost their lives in the course of the service year. He advised the corps members not to allow themselves to be used as tools of destruction in the forthcoming election.
He therefore urged them to be creative in order to provide jobs rather than seeking for white collar jobs.
